Nicky Morgan said she'd never spent that much money (£995) on anything other than her wedding dress. When she withdrew from a scheduled appearance on the BBC TV topical comedy panel show Have I Got News for You on 16 December, at short notice, following an ensuing row with an aide to the Prime Minister, she was replaced with a leather handbag after it transpired she owned a similar bag costing £950.
